Study visit to Germany

The winners of TVET National Award 2018 visited Germany for one-week study tour.

On the first day of the visit, the participants were introduced to German railway - Deutsche Bahn AG training centre and the academy. They learned about the experience of German company in theoretical and practical training of new personnel, visited the infrastructure and simulators of the learning centre and had a possibility to talk with the students and apprentices of the centre. 

On the second day, the participants visited the company Festo, a worldwide leader in professional, industry-oriented qualification solutions for process and factory automation. The participants visited the training center of Festo and learned about the dual education system. The participants were also able to visit one of the state-of-art factories, run by Industry 4.0 technology. 

The winners visited one of the largest education fairs - Didacta in Cologne, which is annually attended by around 800 German and European exhibitors from all educational sectors, representing providers of modern learning materials, laboratories and simulators.

At the end of the visit, the participants visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Manheim and vocational college of Oberhausen, Hans-Sachs-Berufskolleg.  In the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Manheim, the participants were introduced to the role and responsibilities of chamber in dual education process. In vocational college, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the different levels of dual and vocational education and visited the college infrastructure. 

The winners of TVET National Award 2018 are: Tamar Gogrichiani from the vocational college ICARUS (category - TVET student of the year), Ia Mosashvili, teacher at Georgian Technical Training Center under the Georgian Technical University (category -TVET professional of the year), Nona Gudushauri, the Director of college MERMISI (category - TVET provider of the year) and Nino Chkhaidze, HR Management and Development Director at JSC Georgian Railway (category - TVET Business partner of the year). 

The competition was organized by the "Industry-led Skills and Workforce Development” project of Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia. The main sponsor of the competition is Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation.
