Project

Vocational training through distance learning, based on theory, practice and visual media

Summary Distant e-learning platform was developed for auto mechanic and electrician professions and virtual, interactive simulator was created with Georgian language software. 40 staff members of "Georgian Manganese” was trained at the company base equipped with training auditoriums and workshops.
Staff members were trained remotely by the teachers of vocational college "Modusi” in Rustavi with Georgian distant learning program software
and with the use of interactive simulator.

The e-learning platform and simulator is available for all interested parties for usage and replication.

EasySoft Ltd


Project

Learning platform of innovation technology for professional education

Summary EasySoft introduced the universal innovative program Autodesk Fusion 360 for industrial laboratories and created a web-platform with 30 video tutorials
and machinery descriptions in Georgian, with Armenian and Azeri subtitles. The videos are also available for people with hearing disabilities, allowing
easy access to videos for people with special needs. The project aimed to improve the effective functioning and usage of the industrial laboratories
(Fab labs) available within the vocational education system in Georgia through the training of teachers in industrial design software and technical characteristics of the machines and equipment. The trainings have been conducted for the staff of 14 Fab labs that are subordinated to GITA.
The project implementation process was documented in a film with guiding instructions and released for general public.

 At the end of the project, the standard for ‘Developer of Industrial Design’ and the framework documents for ‘Digital Art’ were developed and approved by National Education Quality Enhancement Agency.

The Georgian Patriarchate Community College of Decorative Gardening


Project 

Promoting TVET among general school students on the case of decorative gardening professions

Summary A pilot lesson was created to promote decorative gardening and vocational education for general education students. The lesson was delivered to over 20 schools in Tbilisi and the regions using biology teachers as agents for promoting and delivering the integrated lessons at the schools. The exemplar
lesson proved to be an effective professional orientation tool for promoting the profession at an earlier student age, describing the employment
opportunity and benefits it provides to students. The students’ parents were also actively involved in the project activities together with their children and teachers. Students were listed for enrolment in the college, biology teachers and parents were interested in taking non-formal education evening and weekend courses. Various plants were planted in the school plots, whereby the decorative gardening college continued to communicate with the schools, teachers and students, providing further advice and consultations.

Project 

Euro Master 2017

Summary The national competition EuroMaster was organized to identify the best master of Georgian in the field of home heating communication system
Installation. The aim of the competition was to increase competitiveness and awareness of TVET graduates, strengthen education-business partnerships
and capacity building of TVET providers, so that they can meet the demands of modern labour market. A two-stage competition was held in theory and practice. First, the participants were trained in the main principles and standards of installation of central heating system in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. The invited experts from Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan served as members of jury for practical examination. The invited guests also delivered master classes for students and teachers in modern technologies of polyethylene and polypropylene welding methodologies, modern safety standards and shared their experience in the subject area. After the finals, fifteen top-ranked participants were offered a job placement at company, Geoturan. It is expected that championship will be held annually since representatives of other private companies expressed desire to become partners of the championship next year.

Introducing Informal Education Recognition Methodology

Summary The project addressed the problem of recognizing professional competence without a certificate or diploma by refining the procedure for non-formal recognition. The capacity building training has been developed and delivered for selected eight public and private TVET institutions in introducing
non-formal education recognition procedure. Non-formal education recognition piloting has been carried out in cooperation with NCEQE and
in accordance with methodology created through consultations with stakeholders. As a result of non-formal education recognition document,
TVET providers will be able to provide trustworthy document to their users proving their competencies. This will also help increase the awareness and reputation of educational programs among industry.

Project

Strengthening entrepreneurial training in non-formal education

Tbilisi, Ambrolauri, Senaki 

Summary The formal educational module in entrepreneurship was adapted and tested for non-formal education, involving modern teaching methods and transfer
of international experience. The adopted methodology was piloted through adult and community education centers in Ambrolauri and Senaki
municipalities. 10 teachers were trained to apply new methodology and two cohorts of students completed the new module in Ambrolauri and Senaki Municipalities. At the end of the project, Georgia-wide competition was held for revealing the best business concept involving eight of GAEN centers (Samegrelo, Guria, Achara, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli,  Samtskhe Javakhsri ).  45 participants took part in the competition and 3 winning concepts were
awarded at a final project event.

Strengthening entrepreneurial training in formal TVET system

Summary The original business cases were developed based on the inspiring experiences of local entrepreneurs that will be used in teaching of the current entrepreneurship module, where there are very few real life examples from the Georgian business context. Newly created business cases were collected
in a casebook. The casebook and the accompanying teaching guide and video materials are available online for all interested parties. Selected TVET
teachers were paired with ISET coaches in the development and teaching of eight original case studies telling the stories of young Georgian entrepreneurs. To strengthen the links between TVET institutions and businesses, selected entrepreneurs were invited as guest lecturers and role models. The teaching of
new business cases was piloted through co-teaching by ISET coaches and TVET instructors for 120 students at partner colleges.

Supporting individual learning paths of TVET students

Summary A course on "Learner-centered approach and supporting individual learning paths” based on international practice was developed and delivered to
teachers of Akhali Talga college in Kobuleti. The invited experts from Estonia shared their experience and best practice examples. New tools, such as individual learning plan, self-analysis and learning diary were tested for supporting students’ individual learning paths. The company representatives were also involved in developing students’ individual learning plans to enhance student employment opportunities. The interviews with TVET graduates successful in the spheres of business administration, tourism and related fields were recorded to facilitate the implementation of the new approach. This allowed establishing better contacts with the successful stakeholders and attracting their attention to supporting young people who have just chosen their professional path. The learner-centered approach also enhances gender and social inclusion in TVET as the learner-centered approach takes into account individual preferences and specifics of every student.

New Professional Personnel for the Use of Solar Energy

Summary The use of solar energy equipment, especially for the hot water supply purposes, has significantly increased in the family hotels and private homes. As a result, the demand for maintenance professionals in these systems has grown. Two short-term training courses (Basic of Energy Audit, Solar Collector and Panel Operation) and one minor course (The Electrician, 4th level) for maintenance of solar energy equipment have been developed at the Department of Energy and Telecommunication of the University. Considerable attention was devoted to promotion and dissemination of information about vocational education within school-aged children. A Summer Camp for senior pupils was organized aiming at promoting the new programs in the field of energy,
which was attended by 25 pupils from the public schools of Kutaisi and other regions.

Project 

Flipped Classroom Deployment in BLACKSEA and ERKVANI

Ambrolauri, Batumi

Summary The innovative model of teaching, Flipped Classroom was introduced in Blacksea and Erkvani colleges which change the traditional teaching and learning educational approach and moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework assignments, into the classroom. Based on the new methodology, better student engagement, efficient learning and improved exam results are achieved. A cohort of teachers were trained to
apply the Flipped Classroom, whereby students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home and engage in discussions. Teachers mastered also other innovative methodologies that work best with Flipped Learning: i.e. Peer Instruction, Project Based Learning, mobile learning, Universal Design for Learning.

A handbook for educators has been created in Georgian language with step by step guide for deploying Flipped Methodology, which is available online.
